Privacy Policy

Who we are

Corporate Jungle Impact CIC provides employability, skills, leadership and work-readiness support for young people. In data-protection law, we are the data controller for the personal information covered by this policy.

For any question about this policy or your personal information, contact us at info@cjimpact.org.

Information we may gather

The information we collect depends on how you engage with us. It may include:

  • Your name, date of birth, age, address, email address and telephone number

  • Your education, employment history, qualifications, career goals and job-search activity

  • Information you provide when applying for a programme, opportunity, job or volunteering role

  • Your attendance, progress, feedback and employment or education outcomes following our support

  • Communications with us, including emails, forms, messages and meeting notes

  • Information provided by a parent, carer, school, college, referral partner, employer, funder or commissioner, where appropriate

  • Technical information about your use of our website, including IP address, browser type and pages visited

Some information is more sensitive. Where necessary and lawful, we may collect information about your health or disability, ethnicity, safeguarding needs, care experience, financial circumstances, criminal-record or justice-system experience, and other barriers affecting your transition into work or education.

We only ask for sensitive information when it is genuinely relevant to delivering safe support, monitoring whether our work reaches the young people it is intended to reach, meeting funder requirements, or meeting our legal obligations. You do not have to share information that is not required, but this may affect the support we can offer.

How we use your information

We may use personal information to:

  • Assess eligibility for programmes, mentoring, events, jobs, volunteering or other opportunities

  • Deliver workshops, coaching, employability support and safeguarding support

  • Communicate about applications, sessions, events, opportunities and follow-up support

  • Match or introduce participants to employers, education providers, mentors or delivery partners, where this is appropriate and agreed

  • Track attendance, engagement, progress and longer-term outcomes

  • Report anonymous or aggregated outcomes to funders, commissioners and partners

  • Meet legal, safeguarding, insurance, financial and regulatory requirements

  • Improve our programmes, services, website and communications

  • Recruit, manage and support staff, contractors and volunteers

  • Protect the safety, rights and wellbeing of participants, staff and the public

We will not sell your personal information. We will not use it for unrelated marketing without a clear lawful basis, and where required, your consent.

Our legal basis for using information

We use personal information only where data-protection law allows us to do so. Depending on the activity, this may be because:

  • You have given us consent

  • We need the information to take steps at your request or perform an agreement with you

  • We need to comply with a legal obligation

  • It is necessary for our legitimate interests, such as running and improving our programmes, provided your rights do not override those interests

  • It is necessary to protect someone’s vital interests in an emergency

  • It is necessary for a task carried out in the public interest

Where we process special-category data or criminal-offence data, we will also identify the additional condition required by law. This may include your explicit consent, safeguarding, equality-of-opportunity monitoring, provision of social-care or employment support, establishing or defending legal claims, or a substantial public-interest condition.

Young people and safeguarding

Many of the people we support are aged 16 to 24. We take extra care with young people’s information. We will explain how we use information in clear language and only collect what we need.

If we believe a child, young person or adult at risk may be at risk of harm, we may share relevant information with safeguarding agencies, statutory services or emergency services where this is necessary and lawful. We will usually tell you before we share information, unless doing so could increase risk or is not appropriate in the circumstances.

Who we may share information with

We only share information where it is necessary, proportionate and lawful. This may include:

  • Staff, trustees, facilitators, volunteers and contractors who need it to do their role

  • Delivery partners, referral partners, schools, colleges, universities or community organisations involved in your support

  • Employers, mentors and education or training providers, where an introduction or placement is being arranged and you have agreed to it

  • Funders and commissioners, usually through anonymous or aggregated reporting. Where identifiable information is required, we will tell you what is being shared and why, unless a legal or safeguarding reason prevents this

  • Professional advisers, insurers, auditors and service providers who support our operations

  • Police, local authorities, safeguarding services, regulators or other public bodies where the law requires it or where there is a serious safeguarding concern

We require organisations that process information on our behalf to keep it secure and use it only for the agreed purpose.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, including reporting, safeguarding, funding, legal and audit requirements.

Programme and outcome records are normally retained for up to seven years after the end of support, unless a longer period is required for safeguarding, legal, contractual or funding reasons. Recruitment and volunteering records may be kept for a shorter or longer period depending on the role and legal requirements.

When information is no longer needed, we securely delete it or anonymise it.

Security and international transfers

We use reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. Access is limited to people who need it for their role.

Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we will use appropriate safeguards required by UK data-protection law.

Your rights

You may have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of your personal information

  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information

  • Ask us to delete information in certain circumstances

  • Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing

  • Ask for information you provided to us in a portable format, where applicable

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

  • Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

To exercise any of these rights, email info@cjimpact.org. We may need to confirm your identity before responding.

You can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk or call 0303 123 1113.
